Workshop IV

After two years the fellows convened for the fourth workshop in Hannover. In its format, it followed in the footsteps of what has already been the main focus in Johannesburg in February, namely to critically support the fellows in successfully finalizing their papers to be submitted to journals relevant to their disciplines (program).

As the international mentors and German partners’ academic expertise was crucial in this respect, they were invited to join the meeting in Hannover. The fellows entrusted these partners with the task of commenting on papers they would present in the course of the workshop, thus contributing to the critical assessment of their projects’ achievements.

Hereby, the fellows were given an excellent opportunity to not only benefit from the mentors and German partners’ comments and advice, but to also further enhance their academic networking.

In addition, all five German postdoc partners, who as close co-operators and facilitators had a substantial share in the fellows’ research progress, were able to join the meeting. Furthermore, two papers were presented jointly by fellows and German post-doc partners. This initiative will certainly set an inspiring example in view of the objectives involved with this funding program.
